Call Forwarding Guide
How to Forward Calls from RingCentral
If you use RingCentral, you can enable call forwarding so incoming calls route to SkipCalls, an AI answering service that answers your calls 24/7. RingCentral lets you forward calls at the user, extension, or call handling rule level, so you can choose whether forwarding is always on or only during certain hours. Setup typically takes under 5 minutes once you have your SkipCalls forwarding number.

Troubleshooting
- •Forwarding works for some calls but not others: check RingCentral Call Handling & Forwarding rules for your extension (business hours vs after hours) and confirm the rule you edited is the one currently active.
- •Calls are going straight to voicemail: in RingCentral, ensure the forwarding number is listed before voicemail/answering rules, and confirm the ring time isn’t set too short before voicemail picks up.
- •Forwarded calls fail or drop: verify the destination number you entered matches exactly (including any required country/area format) and that "Allow forwarding" or permissions aren’t restricted by your admin settings.
- •You can’t find the forwarding setting: RingCentral’s admin and user portals differ—confirm whether you should edit forwarding in your individual extension settings or in the Admin Portal for the account/IVR.
- •Forwarding loops back into RingCentral: make sure SkipCalls isn’t forwarding back to your RingCentral number and that you’re not forwarding from multiple RingCentral locations/extensions to each other unintentionally.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I forward RingCentral calls to SkipCalls during after-hours only?
Yes. In RingCentral you can set different call handling for business hours, after hours, or custom schedules, and forward only during the times you choose.
Will RingCentral call forwarding work with my existing RingCentral number and extensions?
Yes. You can forward calls from a main number, a direct number, or an individual extension to the SkipCalls number without changing your published phone number.
Does RingCentral charge extra to use call forwarding?
Call forwarding availability depends on your RingCentral plan and your account settings. Also keep in mind forwarded calls may be treated like outbound calls by your phone system and carrier policies.
How do I turn off call forwarding and go back to normal RingCentral routing?
Disable or remove the forwarding number from your active Call Handling & Forwarding rule, then save your changes. You can also switch back to the previous rule or schedule if you used a temporary setup.
Can I still use RingCentral features like voicemail and call queues if I forward to SkipCalls?
It depends on where you forward from. If you forward at the user/extension level before queues/menus run, SkipCalls will answer first; if you forward after certain rules or timeouts, RingCentral features may still apply before forwarding.
