Appointment Scheduling Tips for Nail Salons
Your schedule is your money in a nail salon. When one client is late, a gel set runs long, or you miss a “broken nail before my event” call, the whole day can slide. Use the strategies below to book smarter, protect your time, and keep chairs full—even when you can’t pick up the phone with gloves on.
1) Build a “service menu with real timing” (not just prices)
Most scheduling problems start because your booking times don’t match what actually happens at the table. A basic manicure might be 30 minutes on paper, but add time for removal, shaping, cuticle work, and drying and it can become 40–45 minutes. Gel and acrylic services are even more time-sensitive because you can’t stop mid-application.
Create booking blocks tied to what clients actually ask for on the phone: “gel fill with French,” “acrylic full set with almond shape,” “pedicure with callus removal,” “simple nail art on two fingers,” etc. Put the timing next to the price so your front desk (or your booking system) stops squeezing a $60–$150 nail art set into a 45-minute gap.
Use these baseline blocks (adjust after 2 weeks of tracking):
- Manicure ($25–$50): 35–45 min
- Pedicure ($35–$70): 50–70 min
- Gel/Acrylic set ($50–$100): 90–120 min
- Nail art add-on ($60–$150 total service): +15 min (simple) to +45 min (detailed)
- Soak-off/removal: +15–25 min
Write the service name the way customers say it: “full set,” “fill,” “dip,” “gel polish,” “French tip,” “designs,” “ombré,” “chrome,” “cat eye,” “builder gel.” This reduces back-and-forth and prevents surprise add-ons that blow up your schedule.
