No-Show Follow-Up Templates for Plumbers
No-shows hit plumbers harder than most trades because you’ve already loaded the truck, blocked out a time window, and sometimes picked up special parts (water heaters, PRVs, drain machines). When you’re under a sink with pipe dope on your hands—or in a basement with no signal—you also can’t chase people down fast. These templates help you recover the job, protect your schedule, and reduce repeat no-shows without starting a fight.
Same-Day No-Show Call (15–30 minutes after the window starts)
Use when the customer isn’t home/available and you’re at the door or parked outside.
“Hi, this is [Your Name] with [Company]. I’m outside for your [service: drain cleaning / leak repair / water heater estimate] in the [time window]. I’m not able to get access right now. Are you on your way, or should we switch to a later window today? If I don’t hear back in 10 minutes, I’ll need to move to my next call and we can reschedule for the next available slot.”
Tips for this scenario
- -Say what you’re there for (“drain cleaning” or “water heater”) so it doesn’t feel like a random sales call.
- -Give a clear time limit (10 minutes) so you can protect your route without sounding rude.
- -If it’s an emergency-type job (active leak), ask “Is the water shut off?” to show urgency and care.
