1) What counts as an emergency (and what can wait until morning)
Your customers use the word “emergency” for anything stressful, but you need a clear line so you don’t burn out or blow up tomorrow’s schedule. In cleaning, a true emergency is a time-sensitive situation where a missed deadline causes a big cost (lost deposit, failed inspection, angry guests, lost access to a building).
Treat these as AFTER-HOURS EMERGENCIES:
- Move-out clean needed within 24–48 hours (landlord walkthrough tomorrow, key handoff, lease ends at noon).
- Last-minute guest arrival (family visiting, Airbnb check-in, open house showing).
- Post-party cleanup needed before morning (sticky floors, trash overflow, bathrooms).
- Commercial “must be clean by open” situations (office is hosting clients at 8am, retail store opening, daycare sanitation before kids arrive).
